In the awake of the election of the speaker of the parliament last week and the upcoming election of the president by the selected members of parliament which is scheduled on the 10th Sept 2012, I got some internal feeling that there is glimmer of hope and more stable Somalia is right in the corner then all over sudden I am change of mind and said to myself that , wait, why all that optimism ?
I remembered Al-shabab, warlords,spoilers, businessmen and women who thrived in the anarchy and of -course spoiled elders who only know the tribe lines and never want peace-full Somalia. These groups of people are still around and actively working inside the country and they all have one commonality which is, protection of their bloody interests at the expense of the conflict and drought induced Somalis! They don't care about the well-being of the dying Somalis, albeit they are happy when people are dying massively like flies purely because that is when they can generate more income by obstructing, looting and demanding payments for the humanitarian community to access the innocent people. Remembering all this make me somber.
what is needed now is active sort of leadership that can cleverly play the game with these spoilers for short period of time and then get rid each one of them one by one.The expected federal government has mountain to climb and need mind -joggling approach in taming these groups.
